Tobacco Smoking Catastrophe: Next 40 Years— 18 Million Tuberculoses Cases Leading to 40 Million Deaths
As per the latest update, the next 40 years would be catastrophic for the human population. In accordance to the statistical data compiled by the University of California, San Francisco, it has been revealed that 18 million more tuberculosis cases would be added in the 40 years leading to an additional 40 million deaths owing to the offensive smoke caused by tobacco cigarettes.
As per Dr. Basu, an MD at the University of California, San Francisco, “Once a smoker contracts tuberculosis owing to the highly toxic gasses which emit from tobacco cigarettes, in most probabilities, the concerned individual would succumb to his/her disease.” As over one fifth of all people in the world are known to smoke cigarettes, the fact remains that the total number of tuberculosis cases has been increasing at a drastic rate. This is all owing to the deadly carcinogens present in tobacco being pumped into the lungs of the smoker each time he lights a regular cigarette.
It has been a well known fact that the tobacco lobby has managed to convince the third world countries to stop paying attention towards the consumption of cigarettes and instead, lay emphasis on containing diseases such as tuberculosis. As per this study, it is clear that tobacco smoke is the biggest menace which is also one of the leading causes of tuberculosis. Hence, if the need is to contain tuberculosis as well as the deaths which are caused by this disease, the fact remains that tobacco smoking needs to be stopped completely.
Tobacco control would not only minimize the chances of smokers contracting cancer and other fatal diseases, the fact remains that tuberculosis would also be contained to a great extent, thereby permitting both smokers as well as passive smokers to be spared from the wrath of the poisonous gasses which emit from a regular cigarette. If the current smoking trend is to continue, it could result in 40 million deaths in the next 40 years owing to tuberculosis alone. Besides, the smoke emitting from regular cigarettes is known to cause several other fatal diseases such as cancer, cardiac arrests, and chronic respiratory infections.
This is one of the main reasons why smokers need to seek a suitable alternative to smoking regular cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are undoubtedly being considered as the most suitable alternative to smoking tobacco. Not only are electronic cigarettes free from tobacco, they are also smokeless in nature and of course, much cheaper.
